YOU AIN'T HEARD NUTHIN' TILL YOU HEAR TOTAL PACKAGE THE BAND: Tyrone "Ty" Holmes - Baritone/Tenor Sax & Flute Tyrone is a product of A&T University in Greensboro, N.C. While pursuing a music major, he met & befriended Maceo Parker legendary sax-man of James Brown /Parliament Funkadelic fame. Tyrone played first chair at A & T and performed alongside Parker on the club circuit. The latter led to stints with celebrated artists such as Rufus & Carla Thomas, William Bell and Marvin Gaye. As founder & co-director of Total Package Tyrone's resonating low register on bari-sax adds a rich ambience to the group. Michele Jones - Lead Vocalist Michele comes to The Package with enormous experience in jazz, pop, and rhythm & blues. She refined her vocal skills while performing with the South Carolina State University Jazz Choir and began singing professionally with national jazz recording artist Ojeda Penn who discovered her sultry vocals combined with that unmistakably smooth delivery. She also worked with Jason Bryant co-founder of Atlanta's own S.O.S. Band therefore she's no stranger to high-energy material. An original member of Total Package, this powerful vocalist adds an outstanding degree of class and distinction to the band. Calvin "Kowboy" Pace - Bass/Guitar & Keys Calvin has worked with various groups as opening act for hitmakers, Gladys Knight, Peabo Bryson, The Temptations, The Manhattans, Lakeside and Tyrone Davis. Most recently he's made national television appearances on the "Keenan Ivory Wayans Show" performing with LaFace's multi-platinum teen singing sensation Usher Raymond, as well as So So Def recording artist /mega hit producer "Jermaine Dupri". Top female Rap artist "Da Brat" along with five man vocal group "Jagged Edge" have also used Calvin's expertise on bass-guitar for live television appearances. Calvin has appeared with "Usher"on Quincy Jones' late night show "Vibe" also; now hosted by comedian Sinbad. Calvin played bass on the re-mix of "You’ve Got To Pray" recorded by Grammy nominated gospel singer "Andre' Crouch". He penned eight songs on Total Package's debut CD release "Old School Is The New Thang". Calvin is the founder of Precious & Dink Publishing plus Too Much Loud Production. Innovative describes his approach as music director and he is certainly an essential component to the forward progress of Total Package DeRamus "Dee" Price - Drums/ Percussion DeRamus has opened for B.B.King, Tyrone Davis, Clarence Carter Betty Wright, Bobby Blue Bland, Al Green, Johnny Taylor, Millie Jackson Shirley Murdoch, Heatwave, Brick, S.O.S. Band, Lenny Williams of Tower of Power fame, and the Commodores. He attended Miles College where he co-wrote & recorded the song "God Is Love" with their Gospel Choir before going on to work with recording artist Denise LaSalle & Benny Latimore. DeRamus has performed around the world from Caesar's Palace/ Atlantic City to the Yokohama Bayside Club in Japan. Dee is a stage veteran with a full commitment to perfection of his craft, and it is this pursuit of excellence that lifts Total Package to new heights. Phyllislorena Smiley - Keyboards & Vocals Phyllislorena is a multi-talented, young lady from Jackson, MS. She has performed background vocals with numerous artists such as Willie Clayton and Johnny Taylor just to name a few. She is versed in Blues, Oldies, and Top 40. Not only has Phyllislorena received the training of the clubs, concert halls and coliseums, but the lady also holds a Masters in music. Total Package was introduced to Phyllislorena in July of 1998 and this has been her home ever since. Gary Pooh Harris - Tenor/Alto Saxophones & EWI Gary has performed throughout Europe and Switzerland with several jazz festivals. Opening for an eclectic assortment of artist like Kool & the Gang, Leslie Gore, B0 Didley, John Scofield Norman Brown, & Tower of Power has awarded him a wide variety of musical influences. He is known in and around Atlanta for his part in organizing jam sessions that feature up coming as well as established musicians. Gary's rare and exceptional solo style of playing thoroughly enhances the sound of Total Package. Rod Kelly - Keyboards/Composer/Recording Engineer Rod is no stranger to music. He has performed on stage with such great's as the William Bell, The Coasters, The Drifters, Tramaine Hawkins, Sonny Emery and several other jazz artist, too many others to name. He watched his mother during her professional recording career and now has matured as a jazz pianist and recording artist. Rod has a distinguished voice that comes through his playing. Rod joined Total Package in 1999 and has been a great credit to the group. Colin Sobers - Lead/Rhythm Guitar Colin is unique in his style of playing lead/rhythm guitar. His flavor is one you will not forget once you hear him. He attended The Musicians Institute, and Guitar Institute of Technology in California, leaving with a Journeyman Certificate in Guitar Studies. Prior to that he was in the US Navy and a member in the Battleship Band for four years. He started his musical career in high school. Colin directs music at his church. Colin has been on the circuit for many years playing with greats such as William Bell, The Whispers, Randy Crawford, Kenny Smith, Miki Howard and he has his own group part-time. Colin is a true asset to Total Package. The flavor he adds to our group is great. |
